17 Militants killed in Karak as security forces conduct successful operation

KARAK: In a major counter-terrorism offensive, Pakistani security forces eliminated 17 militants associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also referred to as Khawarij, during an intelligence-driven operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district.

According to security officials, the operation targeted the Mullah Nazir faction following credible intelligence about their presence in the remote Dareshk area. The mission involved coordinated efforts from the Pakistan Army, Special Services Group (SSG), and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

The operation unfolded over two days in a rugged, mountainous region, where security forces engaged in intense combat. Seventeen terrorists were killed, while more than ten others sustained critical injuries. At least three security personnel were also injured during the clashes.

Following the successful completion of the operation, locals warmly welcomed the returning troops, expressing gratitude for the restoration of peace in the region. Community members hailed the security forces’ efforts and reaffirmed their support for continued counter-terrorism operations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the bravery and effectiveness of the security personnel, stating that their swift action had foiled the terrorists’ “malicious plans.” He offered prayers for the recovery of the injured soldiers and reiterated the government’s unwavering resolve to root out terrorism. “We are fully committed to eliminating every trace of terrorism from our soil. No force will be allowed to undermine the peace and stability of our country,” the premier stated.
