Taliban can’t survive a month without Pakistan’s help: Ashraf claims

AMRITSAR:Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said on Sunday that the Taliban insurgency would not survive a month if it lost its sanctuary in neighbouring Pakistan, urging its neighbour to take on militant groups on its soil instead of giving Kabul financial aid.

Pakistan said while violence had increased in Afghanistan , blaming another country for it didn’t help.

Heart of Asia Conference on topic of peace in Afghanistan is underway in India while Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani addressed the conference today.

The Afghan President in his address to the conference said “the conference is being held in view of dangers faced by Afghanistan. ” Ashraf Ghani thanked international community over paying attention to problems faced by Afghanistan. He also  welcomed Pakistan’s assistance of worth five hundred million dollars for the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

The Afghan President said efforts are being made for capacity building of Afghan institutions.

While Indian Premier Narendra Modi said that the world is facing danger in presence of terrorism and urges collective efforts to tackle the menace.

Modi, said that silence against terrorism will encourage terrorists and needed joint efforts to break network of terrorism.

Indian premier  Narendra Modi said peace in Afghanistan is imperative for peace and stability in the region.

The Indian PM  said India is committed to durable peace in Afghanistan, and announced plans to connect India and Afghanistan via an air link, as well as discussed the possibility of trilateral cooperation over Iran’s Chahbahar port.
