WELLINGTON: New Zealand has won the firs Test against the visitor Bangladesh by seven wickets.
Put to bat by host New Zealand after winning the toss Bangladesh piled up 595 runs and declared the inning with two wickets still remaining. Shakibul Hassan made a brilliant double century (217 runs) while wicket keeper captain Mushfiqur Rahim also made a century (159 runs).
In reply New Zealand was all out for 539 which included 177 runs by Latham and 73 runs by Santner.
Bangladesh batting failed in the second inning with 160 runs all out.
New Zealand piled up the required score of 217 runs at the loss of three wickets in the second inning to win the first Test by seven wickets.
