WEB DESK: At least 20 people lost their lives, and several others sustained burn injuries today when a bus caught fire after colliding with a motorcycle in Andhra Pradesh, authorities reported.
The tragedy took place on a road near Chinna Tekur village in the Kurnool district.
According to police, the bus, which was carrying 42 passengers and traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru, was engulfed in flames almost immediately after the collision.
Reports indicate that most of the passengers were asleep at the time of the accident.
Local residents promptly rushed to the site and attempted to assist the injured before fire services and police teams arrived.
The injured were transported to Kurnool Government General Hospital for treatment.
Officials fear the death toll could rise further.
A case has been registered, and an investigation has been launched by the police.
