ISLAMABAD: The bench hearing the case related to the 26th constitutional amendment in the Supreme Court was split.
The case related to the 26th constitutional amendment was heard by a three-member bench headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.
During the hearing, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah remarked that, Justice Aqeel Abbasi has already decided the case in the Sindh High Court, the case cannot proceed today, the earlier 3-member bench will hear the case on Monday.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said that a new bench will have to be formed to handle the case, which is being fixed for hearing on Monday, Justice Irfan Saadat Khan was already included in the bench.
The learned judge further said that under Article 191A, jurisdiction can be taken from the regular benches, on which the Additional Attorney General requested to give us some time.
During the hearing, Justice Ayesha Malik said that let the case be fixed on Monday and then we will look at the deadline.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan issued a notice of assistance to the Attorney General’s Office and adjourned the hearing of the 26th Constitutional Amendment case till Monday.
