26th constitutional amendment challenged in SC

Islamabad: The 26th amendment was challenged in the Supreme Court while the petitioner has insisted the top court annulling the constitutional amendment.

Petitioner Muhammad Anis through his counsel Adnan Khan has challenged the 26th constitutional amendment.

Petition insisting the SC to revoke the 26th constitutional amendment adopted the view that the parliament has powers of legislation. While the parliament can amend the constitution with a two-third majority.

As per the petition, the parliament doesn’t have powers to give suggestion in the judicial matters.

The petition states a process of appointment of Chief Justice has been changed through the amendment.
After the amendment appointment the powers of appointment of CJ has gone to the government.

While the structure of the judicial commission has also been changed for appointment of the judges.

The federation has been made party in the case.
