Petition Filed in ECP to Seek Imran Disqualification

Islamabad (August 02, 2017): A petition was filed in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday seeking disqualification of Imran Khan from the National Assembly over allegations levelled by his former party affiliate Aisha Gulalai.

Raja Basharat of Muslim League Lawyers Forum filed the petition with Imran Khan and Aisha Gulalai as respondents. The petitioner said Gulalai levelled serious allegations against Khan on Tuesday of which she had evidence as well.

He requested the ECP to de-notify the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf from NA-56, Rawalpindi-VII, as the party’s chairman and member of the National Assembly should bear a good character.Two resolutions were also submitted against the PTI chairman in Punjab and Balochistan assemblies.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member Hina Pervez Butt submitted the resolution in Punjab’s legislator, stating that Khan’s behaviour with female party activists was intolerable.

“Such acts do not suit a leader of any political party,” it read, calling for investigations into Gulalai’s allegations.

The petition further demanded Khan be disqualified under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.

In Balochistan Assembly, Shahida Rauf submitted a resolution condemning the PTI chief.“Imran Khan’s cheap and immoral acts hurt prestige and honour of women,” it read.

The PTI chief should be tried over Gulalai’s allegations and disqualified from parliament.

A petition has also been filed against PTI Chief in SC,seeking Imran Khan’s disqualification for his baseless allegation against honorable judge Asif Saeed Khosa.

The petitioner Tariq Asad Advocate has the stance, in his plea, that Imran Khan had hurled baseless accusations against the Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and he also told lie in a TV talk show.

“After telling lie Imran did not remain Sadiq and Ameen and therefore he should be declared disqualified, ” the request mentioned.

On Tuesday,  The Supreme Court denouncing the rumors regarding the meeting between PTI chairman Imran Khan and Justice Asif Saeed Khosa has said that the court remarks were only in connection with lock down during the hearing of Panama case.

According to the details, Supreme Court spokesperson clarified the widespread perception claiming Imran Khan and leader of 5-member Panama case bench Justice Asif Saeed Khosa met privately before the hearings of the case against Sharif family. Such reports were denied and it was stated that the court’s observations were interpreted wrongly.

“Justice Asif Saeed Khusa never met or talked with Imran Khan in private capacity throughout his life has no personal acquaintance with the gentleman, however airing his November 1 remarks as interview shape is unrealistic, unfortunate and malicious,” Registrar Supreme Court Arbab Muhammad Arif said in his statement issued by the supreme Court.
