Information Minister Maryam Inaugurates Azadi Train

Islamabad(August 12, 2017): Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting  Maryam Aurangzeb said that Nawaz Sharif has started terrorism-free Pakistan’s vision due to which Pakistan has been emerging economic power today.

She expressed intention that Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi would fulfil promises which Nawaz had taken from public.

While talking to media on occasion of inaugural ceremony of Azadi Train, Aurangzeb said Nawaz has begun terrorism-free Pakistan vision in 2013 whereas terrorism incidents have been reduced by 90 per cent.

She further added that CPEC project is a gift to Pakistani public by Nawaz Sharif beside this she hoped Shahid Khaqan will fulfil ex-PM Nawaz  promises.

“Today 70 years of independence of Pakistan have completed as this Azadi train itself fully highlighting Pakistan’s history whereas CPEC model also kept in Azadi train and therefore, public should take their children to station and show Azadi Train so they could know the  history”, information minister said in her address.

It is to remain clear that azadi train departed for its countrywide journey after inauguration by Maryam Aurangzeb.  According to the schedule by Railways Ministry, the train will reach Peshawar Cantt at 4:30 in the evening.

The train will leave for Rawalpindi from Peshawar Cantt on Sunday and reach Rawalpindi in the afternoon, where it will stay for the whole day on Monday.

The Special Azadi Train will leave for Lahore at 10:00pm on 15th of this month. Train will have a two day stopover in Lahore and will leave for Karachi. The journey will come to an end at Karachi Cantt on 25th of this month.

Azadi train has been decorated with cultural symbols representing all four provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). The special train will stop at every major station along its way.

The train has five galleries and six floats, with each gallery showcasing a different theme such as Independence Movement, sacrifices rendered by the Pakistan Army, CPEC projects, and human rights violations in the Indian-held Kashmir.
