40 killed, scores injured in Dargah Shah Noorani blast

HUB: At least 40 people were killed and scores others injured in a bomb blast at Dargah Shah Noorani near Hub.

As per initial information, scores of devotees had gathered at the Shrine to attend the daily rituals and prayers.

A bomb went off in the area reserved for Dhamal in the premises of the shrine, when people gathered there. Reports said that 40 devotees were killed and dozens others injured in the blast.

Police and Levies forces personnel rushed to the spot. Rescue workers and ambulances were also sent to the area from Hub, as there is no health facility in the nearby areas.

Rescue workers are facing difficulties in shifting the injured to hospitals due to lack of ambulance service.  The Dargah is located in a hilly area due to which the rescuers are facing difficulties.

In-charge Edhi Ambulance Services Hub Hakim Lasi told Abb Takk News that he had talked to the Sajjadanasheen (caretaker) of the shire. He said that the caretaker of the shrine had told him that 30 people had been killed on the spot while about 100 others were injured.

He said that the injured would be shifted to Karachi’s Civil and Jinnah hospitals as their condition was stated to be critical and no major health facility was available in the area to treat such large number of injured.

The Edhi official said that some 50 ambulances and volunteers had been dispatched to the site of the blast.

Eyewitnesses said that the injured were being shifted to Hub in private vehicles and Suzuki pick-ups.

It is not clear whether the blast was carried out by suicide bomber or through a remote control device.
