It’s great to have Ranveer come on board as Kapil Dev, as honestly, I could see no one else in the role since I started working on the script.”

The film is reportedly titled World Cup 1983 and will be produced by Phantom Films and Vishnu Vardhan Induri, who is the founder and managing director of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL). Rumour has it, the film will be written by National Award-winning director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan.

It is likely to go on floors early next year and will be shot at the locations where the whole 1983 Prudential Cup tour took place.
