India Thrash Australia by 7 Wickets in 5th ODI

Nagpur(October 2, 2017): Rohit Sharma achieved a memorable milestone with his classy century as India outplayed Australia by seven wickets in the fifth ODI to seal the series 4-1 and cement their number one spot in the ICC rankings.

Chasing 243 for victory, the hosts rode on opener Rohit Sharma’s 109-ball 125 to achieve their target in 42.5 overs at Nagpur and get back to the top of ODI world rankings table.

Rohit (125) and Ajinkya Rahane (61) set up the comprehensive win with a 124-run stand, their third century stand in a row, before the former shared a 99-run partnership with captain Virat Kohli (39) to take the team on the cusp of a big victory.

Marcus Stoinis and Travis Head shared a 87-run stand for the fifth wicket to take Australia past 200-run mark. But, Head was bowled but Axar Patel.

This once again pushed Australia back. For India, Axar picked up three wickets while Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets. Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kedar Jadhav picked up a wicket each.

Man of the match Sharma, who opened his account with two successive boundaries after 14 deliveries, was the first to get to his fifty with a double off Marcus Stoinis.
