ISLAMABAD: Security forces have killed 37 terrorists during intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and areas along the border with Afghanistan, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said.
In a statement shared on X, the ministry said the operations were launched following a series of terrorist attacks targeting civilians and security personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the ministry, security forces first conducted a ground operation in Kohat and Hangu, targeting a group of militants linked to Fitna Al Khawarij.
The operation resulted in the deaths of nine militants, while several others were injured, it said.
The ministry added that credible intelligence subsequently led to precision strikes against militant camps and hideouts belonging to Fitna Al Khawarij and its affiliated groups in the border region with Afghanistan.
Three militant facilities were destroyed in the airstrikes, including a training centre for suicide bombers, resulting in the deaths of 28 terrorists along with several suicide bombers, according to the statement.
The strikes also destroyed substantial quantities of weapons and ammunition stored at the targeted facilities and hideouts.
The ministry said Pakistan remained committed to promoting peace and stability in the region, but stressed that the protection of its citizens remained the government’s foremost priority.
It further expressed concern over the continued presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan, saying Pakistan faced a security threat emanating from across the border. The ministry said the operations were directed specifically at terrorist infrastructure and that maximum precautions were taken to prevent civilian casualties and collateral damage.
The Information Ministry said the counter-terrorism campaign Ghazab-lil-Haq, being conducted under the broader Azm-e-Istehkam framework, would continue with full intensity until the threat of foreign-sponsored terrorism was eliminated from the country.
