ISLAMABAD: During the meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Health, member Agha Rafiullah accused the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) of being involved in human trafficking and sending nurses abroad on fake degrees.
The meeting, chaired by Mahish Kumar Melani, expressed serious concerns over the irregularities within the Nursing Council.
Committee member Shazia Sobia stated that three nursing groups had been sent back from Dubai, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia due to fake degrees, while Aalia Kamran revealed that various members of the committee had been receiving threats from the Nursing Council.
Aalia Kamran further added that the Nursing Council had obtained a stay order from the court and that they were so influential that the committee felt constrained in addressing the issue.
All members of the committee unanimously raised their voices against the irregularities within the Nursing Council.
Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, during the meeting, apologized and said that the Nursing Council had used extremely harsh language against Agha Rafiullah, but he assured that he would not remain silent on the matter and would ensure a thorough investigation into the Nursing Council.
He stated that he would make every possible effort to resolve the issue surrounding the Nursing Council.
