66 Couples Tie Knot In India’s Mass Wedding

Web-Desk (February 26, 2018): District administration organized a mass wedding in Greater Noida, India wherein At least 66 couples get married.

Some 21 Muslim couples and 45 other Hindu couples got hitched as part of the program named ‘Mukhyamantri Samoohik Vivaah Yojana’.

The heavy-budgeted marriage scheme also awarded funds amounting to Indian rupees 35,000 to each couple, including household items and presents.The marriages took place in front of notable politicians and leaders.

“We had called five Kazis and five Brahmin priests to perform the rituals to marry the Muslims and Hindus respectively as per their religious customs. The program was conducted smoothly and we are satisfied,” said District magistrate B N Singh.

The noble scheme was started in October, 2017 by the Uttar Pradesh government to assist people hailing from lower classes in getting married.
