KARACHI: The 43rd anniversary of the passing of legendary playback singer Ahmed Rushdi was commemorated today (Saturday).

Born on April 24, 1934, in Hyderabad Deccan, Rushdi migrated to Pakistan following independence. Over his illustrious career, he lent his voice to approximately 5,000 songs across 583 films, performing in multiple languages including Urdu, English, Punjabi, Bengali, Sindhi, and Gujarati.

In recognition of his significant contributions to music, Ahmed Rushdi was posthumously awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2003.

He passed away in Karachi on this day in 1983, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of entertainment.
