KHUZDAR: In a significant crackdown, security forces killed five terrorists believed to be backed by India during an intelligence-led operation in Khuzdar, Baluchistan.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that the operation was conducted during the late hours of September 14 and early hours of September 15. During the raid, security personnel engaged the militants and successfully recovered an extensive cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives.
The ISPR confirmed that the terrorists had a history of involvement in multiple previous attacks. It reiterated the government’s firm resolve to eradicate terrorism and assured that intelligence-based operations (IBOs) would continue until the last terrorist is eliminated. An area clearance operation is ongoing to ensure complete security.
In another wave of violence, terrorists launched coordinated assaults targeting police installations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, resulting in one police officer martyred, six others injured, and one official reported missing.
In Sherani district, Balochistan, militants attacked the District Headquarters Police and Levies lines around 11 pm. Deputy Commissioner Hazrat Wali Kakar confirmed that police officer Altaf-ur-Rehman from Khanozai was martyred in the attack, while Levies personnel Wahid Harifal and Kalu Khan sustained injuries. The whereabouts of Azam Khan, another official, remain unknown as search operations are underway. The attackers also targeted the police station’s communication infrastructure, causing damage.The local administration has pledged to support the affected families and promised swift action against those responsible.
Meanwhile, in Bannu district of KP, over 200 militants launched a large-scale assault on the Mazanga police post within the Hoveed police station jurisdiction. District Police Officer Salim Abbas Kalachi reported intense gunfire exchanges between security forces and militants. Despite explosives damaging the perimeter wall, police personnel held their ground, forcing the assailants to retreat. Four policemen sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment.
