6.5 magnitude tremor jolts south Philippines, three dead

MANILA: At least three people have been killed and seven others injured as 6.5 magnitude earthquake jolted south Philippines.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the earth quack struck near Mindanao Island in southern Philippines. The epicenter of the quake was 13 kilometer away in the east of Surigao city at the depth of 10 kilometer.

No tsunami warning is issued so far. local media reported that an elementary school in Surigao del Norte collapsed. Some debris fell from a number of building and a bridge was also damaged in the quake.
