60th Martyrdom Anniversary of Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed being observed today

Web Desk: The 60th Martyrdom Anniversary of Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, is being observed today.

Maj Aziz Bhatti Shaheed was born in Hong Kong in 1928 and moved to Pakistan before independence in 1947, settling in Ladiyan village of district Gujrat.

In 1950, he joined Pakistan Army and was commissioned in Punjab Regiment.

During Indo-Pak War in September, 1965 as a company commander in Burki, Lahore, he decided to stay with his forward platoon and defended strategic BRB Canal bravely for five days.

Throughout, undaunted by constant fire from enemies’ tanks and artillery, he organized the defense of the BRB canal along with his brave soldiers until he was hit by an enemy’s shell and got martyred.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has paid tribute to Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, on his 60th martyrdom anniversary.

In a statement, he said Major Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed set an unforgettable example of courage and bravery during the 1965 war that will be remembered for all time.

He said Raja Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, by repelling enemy attacks continuously for five days, crushed the enemy’s sinister plans to capture Lahore and celebrate victory.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan’s Armed Forces are tirelessly engaged in the defense of our homeland.

He said whenever the enemy has looked at Pakistan with hostile intent, officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army have stood like an unbreakable wall to defend the motherland.

He said the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with brave armed forces in the unwavering commitment to defend Pakistan.
