Web desk(June 19, 2018): Apple recently took the wraps off the latest version of its iOS operating system, iOS 12. The all-new OS will bring in a host of new features to iPhones.
It also takes on the latest Android operating system, dubbed Android P, unveiled last month. Both the OSes are currently available in beta version and will be rolled out to respective smartphones later this year. Here’s a list of 7 features that Android phones have but are missing in iPhones.
Customization
Android is customizable from top to bottom and is open to any developer. Hence, you get a bunch of apps from developers that let you change the layout of the launcher and the app drawer also. This is something that iOS users can’t enjoy yet.
Split-Screen Multitasking
Split-screen multi-tasking feature was first introduced in Android smartphones with Android 6.0 Marshmallow whereas iOS still lacks this feature.Improved Indoor Navigation
‘Android P’ brings support for Wi-Fi Round-Trip-Time, Wi-Fi protocol that results in better indoor navigation. This feature is yet to show up on iPhones.
Picture-in-Picture Mode
Also, while Android lets developers make use of picture-in-picture mode for their apps, iOS still limits it to a certain extent.Auto App Shortcuts
Android already comes with app shortcuts but with Android P, Google introduced auto app shortcut recommendations or Actions. It lets you access deeper functions of an app with a single tap on the screen.
Security Mode To Disable Fingerprint Sensor
‘Enter Lockdown’ is another feature in Android P that will lock ‘extended access’ to certain functionality and even the fingerprint sensor. The feature can be seen when the power button is long pressed.Quick Screen Rotation
Another feature missing in iOS 12 is the quick screen rotation button that shows up on the top right corner when the handset is moved to landscape mode
Some of these features make debut with Android P, while others have been there for quite some time now.
