LAHORE: 70th death anniversary of the famous fiction writer Saadat Hasan Manto is being observed today.
Saadat Hasan Manto was born on 11th May 1912 in Ludhiana and after the partition of India he shifted to Lahore, he is one of the famous Urdu fiction writer.
Manto wrote more than two hundred fictions, essays and sketches in his literary life of 20 years. Among his famous works are Toba Tek Singh, Thanda Gosh, Naya Kanoon, Nimrod Ki Khudai, Sarkad, Smoke and Manto ke Afsane are included.
Manto’s high status is acknowledged in urdu mythology. Some of Minto’s stories are indeed morally objectionable, but on the whole he did a valuable job in advancing the tradition of Urdu fiction.
He was also awarded with “Nishan Imtiaz” by the government. While countless books have been written on Manto’s life, two films have also been made on his life. One film was made in Pakistan and the other in India.
Manto left the world at the age of 43 years, he died due to liver disease.
