Web desk: Arthur Nayyar started his career in 1974 from a duet song with Ahmed Rushdi.
He was born in 14th April 1950 in Sahiwal into christian family. His childhood was spent in (Arifwala)Punjab and later he shifted to Punjab. A Nayyar spent his childhood watching both Indian and Pakistani films.He was inspired by legendary singer Muhammad Rafi.
A. Nayyar studied in Arifwala till Class 5 before being shifted to Lahore where he got admission to St Francis School. Later, he went to the Forman Christian College (now university) to complete his higher studies.
Nayyar’s first appearance on TV was on the show ‘Naye Fankar’ in 1974 after which he began his career in playback singing.
A. Nayyar won five Nigar Awards for playback singing. He sang more than 4000 songs.
Nayyar passed away on Nov 11, 2016 in Lahore.
