Beirut: The death toll in Israeli strikes across Lebanon has risen to 569 while among the dead are 50 children and 94 women.
According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, over 1800 people have so far been injured.
Several medics were also injured in Israeli attacks while carrying out their duties in the village of Habbouch.
Lebanon’s Foreign Ministry estimates that at least half a million people have fled their homes in the south of the country where Israeli attacks have intensified.
Lebanon says only US can stop fighting
Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib criticised Biden’s address as “not strong, not promising” and said the US was the only country “that can really make a difference in the Middle East and with regard to Lebanon.” Washington is Israel’s longtime ally and biggest arms supplier.
The United States “is the key … to our salvation,” he told an event in New York City hosted by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
UN Security Council to meet on Lebanon today
The United Nations Security Council will meet at 6 pm (2200 GMT) on Wednesday on the escalation in fighting in Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah, said Slovenia, president of the 15-member council for September.
