Lahore police issue a directive to enforce the security advisory strictly.

LAHORE: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the special Protection Unit Muntazar Mehdi instructs authorities to monitor arrival and departure of foreigners using Safe City cameras.

In response to escalating security concerns, authorities in Punjab have intensified protective measures for all foreigners, with particular emphasis on the safety of Chinese citizens. Lahore’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Special Protection Unit, Muntazar Mehdi, has issued a strict directive to enforce this security advisory, underscoring that the safety of Chinese nationals is a top priority. He has warned that any lapse in these security protocols will not be tolerated.

DIG Mehdi has instructed local authorities to closely monitor the arrival and departure of foreigners through the Punjab Safe City Authority’s surveillance systems. Additionally, he mandated the use of bulletproof vehicles for the transportation of all foreign nationals and directed the Special Branch to conduct thorough search and sweeping operations along their travel routes.

These enhanced security measures follow a tragic suspected suicide attack on a convoy of Chinese engineers in Karachi, which resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including two Chinese nationals, and injuries to approximately 17 others, including a Chinese engineer and members of the Rangers and police.

In light of these events, the Chinese Embassy and consulates general in Pakistan have called for a comprehensive investigation into the attack, urging that the perpetrators be severely punished. They also emphasized the importance of implementing all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions, and projects throughout Pakistan.
