ISLAMABAD: As Pakistan gets ready to host the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit on October 15-16, foreign delegations are arriving, with representatives from India and Russia already in the country, according to Abbtakk News.
Reports indicate that a four-member delegation from India and a 76-member delegation from Russia have arrived in Pakistan. Additionally, 15 delegates from China, four from Kyrgyzstan, and two from Iran have also made their way to the country, along with seven representatives from the SCO.
Pakistan has put in place strict security measures for the summit, with law enforcement agencies ensuring the safety of the foreign delegations, bolstered by a significant police presence throughout the capital.
The metro bus service in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be suspended during the summit, and the government has declared three-day holidays for public offices, educational institutions, and commercial centers in Islamabad. All marriage halls will also be closed to facilitate the event.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans for a protest in Islamabad on October 15, which adds an additional layer of complexity to the event’s security and traffic management.
