Nooh Butt clinches four gold medals at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship.

Pakistan’s leading weightlifter Nooh Dastagir Butt triumphed in both the classic and equipped categories during his debut powerlifting event at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship.

This marked Butt’s first foray into powerlifting after switching from weightlifting due to disagreements with the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWLF). Competing in the equipped 120+ kg category, he achieved a remarkable feat by securing all four gold medals.

Butt’s outstanding performance kicked off with the squat event, where he lifted an impressive 340 kg to earn his first gold. He then excelled in the bench press, lifting 210 kg to take home another gold medal. In the deadlift, he demonstrated his strength yet again with a lift of 300 kg, adding another gold to his collection.

In total, Butt lifted 850 kg, which earned him the equipped title at the Commonwealth Championship. Prior to this, he had also showcased his skills in the classic class, winning three gold medals and one bronze, solidifying his reputation as one of the top powerlifters in the competition.

Ultimately, Butt concluded the championship with an impressive tally of seven gold medals and one bronze. His accomplishments not only reflect his exceptional talent but also underscore his resilience in overcoming challenges following his transition from weightlifting.
