ISLAMABAD: Unidentified gunmen attacked jail vans on Sangjani Toll Plaza, freeing multiple prisoners belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) facing terrorism charges.
In a dramatic incident on Friday, more than 150 prisoners, including three members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), escaped during an attack on three prison vans near the Sanjgani Toll Plaza in Islamabad. According to reports, the prisoners were being transported to Attock Jail following their court appearance related to the D Chowk protests.
Authorities confirmed that the attack was carried out by unidentified gunmen as the vans were en route. Among the escapees are PTI MPAs Anwar, Liaqat, and Yasir.
In the wake of the incident, police have detained three government employees on suspicion of involvement in the breach of security. The situation remains under investigation as law enforcement intensifies efforts to recapture the fugitives.
