Iranian Revolutionary Guard General and Pilot Killed in Autogiro Crash Near Pakistani Border

An Iranian Revolutionary Guard general and his pilot tragically lost their lives on Monday in an autogiro accident during a military operation near the Pakistani border, as reported by state television.

General Hamid Mazandarani was conducting operations in the Sirkan border area of Sistan and Balochistan province at the time of the incident.

Reports indicate that the crash occurred during a training drill. The autogiro, which is smaller and simpler than a helicopter, is commonly used in Iran for pilot training and border surveillance, typically accommodating two occupants. The incident raises concerns over the safety of operations involving such aircraft in challenging terrains.
