BEIRUT: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached out to his Lebanese counterpart, Prime Minister Najib Mikati, seeking assistance in evacuating Pakistani nationals stranded in Syria amid the ongoing crisis, according to an official statement.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed that all airports in Syria were closed, making air evacuation impossible. He explained, “With all airports in Syria currently shut down, evacuation can only be carried out through land routes via Lebanon.”
Emphasizing the urgency of the situation, the Prime Minister mentioned that around 600 Pakistanis were stranded in Syria. He requested Lebanon’s help in facilitating the issuance of visas for these citizens to ensure their swift and safe evacuation.
The Lebanese government has agreed to issue visas to the stranded Pakistanis, providing a vital route for their safe exit from Syria.
