Residential areas turning into commercial ventures in Capital City

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) must take notice of turning the residential areas into illegal commercial ventures like hostels, clinics and even international media house.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) must urgently address the rampant violation of CDA Ordinance 1960 and the Islamabad Residential Sectors Zoning Regulations. Residential neighborhoods, meant for families and peaceful living, are being turned into hubs for illegal commercial ventures like hostels, clinics, and even international media houses.

These activities are not only disrupting the community’s quality of life with increased traffic, parking chaos, and environmental strain but are also a direct violation of existing rules and procedures. Globally, cities like London and Dubai strictly enforce zoning laws to maintain the sanctity of residential areas. Islamabad deserves the same respect for its regulations and its citizens.

CDA must take the following steps swiftly.

1. Conduct thorough surveys across its sectors.

2. Shut down illegal commercial entities, no matter how influential they are.

3. Enforce the law to preserve the livability and safety of residential zones.
