PTI likely not to receive permission hold rally at Minar-e-Pakistan

According to detail, the committee is considering denying PTI permission due to a cricket match, an international speaker conference, and the Lahore Horse and Cattle Show scheduled for the same day, all requiring extensive security arrangements.

In response, PTI’s Chief Organizer, Alia Hamza, expressed frustration over the delay in granting permission. She emphasized that holding the rally is their legal and constitutional right. Despite submitting a request to the Deputy Commissioner on January 29, PTI has yet to receive a response. Alia Hamza stated that if permission is not granted, PTI will announce an alternative course of action.

In anticipation of a potential denial, PTI has prepared a contingency plan. The party intends to organize protests across all districts of Punjab, with members directed to lead demonstrations in their respective constituencies. Key locations in Lahore, such as Liberty Chowk, Azadi Chowk, and Mall Road, are also designated for protests and rallies. PTI leaders believe that denying permission will only bolster the success of their protests.

Regarding the legal proceedings, Lahore High Court has directed the Deputy Commissioner to decide on PTI’s request for the rally by 5 PM today. The court emphasized the need for a prompt decision, considering the constitutional rights involved. The Chief Secretary of Punjab has assured the court that the decision will be implemented accordingly.

This situation underscores the ongoing tensions between PTI and the local administration, highlighting the challenges in balancing political activities with public events and security concerns.
