Over the 17 seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL), various franchise owners have made headlines for different reasons, from Vijay Mallya to Preity Zinta and Raj Kundra to Sanjiv Goenka.

One of the most notable incidents occurred in 2012, involving Bollywood superstar and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) owner Shah Rukh Khan at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, which sparked significant controversy.

After the IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians, which KKR won, Shah Rukh Khan was involved in a heated argument with stadium security staff. Video footage captured him gesturing angrily at a security guard.

Reports indicated that Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials alleged that the actor attempted to enter the field without permission and was misbehaving, reportedly under the influence of alcohol.

The MCA president back then, Vilasrao Deshmukh, who was also a former chief minister of Maharashtra, announced that Shah Rukh Khan would be banned from entering Wankhede Stadium for five years. He felt they were being mistreated, and when he attempted to remove them from the situation, a security guard used an offensive term with a religious undertone.
