President of Supreme Court Bar Meets IMF Officials Along with Delegation

ISLAMABAD: President of the Supreme Court Bar, Mian Rauf Atta, along with a delegation, held a meeting with officials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), during which discussions were held on judicial performance, enforcement of contracts, and protection of property rights.

According to a statement issued by the Supreme Court Bar, the delegation also included the presidents of the Baluchistan and Sindh High Court Bars. The meeting with IMF officials lasted for over an hour.

The statement noted that the discussions focused on judicial efficiency, the enforcement of agreements, and the safeguarding of property rights. The IMF mission expressed concerns regarding issues related to contract enforcement and property rights. In response, the Supreme Court Bar President provided detailed and fact-based answers to the mission’s questions.

The IMF officials were also briefed on two major initiatives aimed at improving judicial performance. It was explained that the purpose of the 26th Constitutional Amendment is to enhance judicial independence. Under this amendment, a constitutional bench has been formed to handle more complex and high-level political and constitutional cases.
