FAISALABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz distributed laptops among students, in a ceremony here on Wednesday.
CM Maryam distributed laptops under the CM Punjab Laptop Program while laptops were distributed among 5,928 students of Faisalabad division.
Talking about the recent conflict with India at the event, Maryam Nawaz said, “Today, the nation’s head is held high with pride.” She said, “I am seeing the passion among the new generation and the youth of Pakistan. The enemy we were fighting was bigger than us in size and resources. [But] we have fought the war unitedly.”
She said “The enemy was defeated by the armed forces of Pakistan. Pakistan Army and the nation proved to be a united wall. It was said about Rafale [jets] that no one could shoot it down. Pakistan Air Force soldiers shot down Rafale,” she added.
The CM said that we not only won the war but also protected future generations. “The models of the planes that were our pride were set on fire. We are not from ‘May 9’, we are from ‘May 10’ and ‘May 28’,” she said highlighting Pakistan’s victory over India.
She recalled Nawaz Sharif had carried out nuclear explosions despite opposition of the world. “Those who teach hatred and division have failed,” she said, referencing the violent protests by supporters of the opposition party on May 9.
“Victory in war is achieved through sacrifices. The nation stood by the side of the Pakistan’s armed forces,” she said.
She said that when Pakistan carried out nuclear tests against India, Pakistan won with a 6-5 score. “This time we have won against the enemy by 6-0 score”, she said.
“I tell the youth not to be blind followers. You are not the children of May 9, but the children of May 28,” Maryam Nawaz said.
She said that education-centric policies are imperative to harness the inherent quality of our youth enabling them to lead toward a brightened and progressive future of Pakistan.
She underlined the importance of education and said that “only through education we could bring a qualitative improvement in our attitude in addition to completing with the other developed countries of the world.”
She said that the Punjab government allocated huge funds to provide laptops and scholarships to the talented but marginalised students who contribute their productive role in the overall growth of Pakistan.
She made several major announcements during her address including launch of a Metrobus service in Faisalabad next year and introduction of green electric buses which would help in promoting a new era of urban mobility and sustainability for the city.
She revealed a comprehensive Faisalabad Development Plan on Lahore pattern and said that her government is committed to transforming not just cities but villages also into model community centers across the division
She urged the students to serve the nation with unity and integrity in addition to concentrating on their education as their future lies in laptops not weapons.
She said that distribution of scholarships and laptops is not a charity for youth but it is their right. She said that she had belief in the potential of youth and they would surely lead Pakistan forward.
She also commended her administrative team including Provincial Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat and Secretary Dr. Farrakh Naveed for their dedication and performance.
