Israeli airstrikes destroy Nasser Hospital in Gaza, killing 23 Palestinians since dawn

GAZA: Israeli forces launched a large-scale ground offensive in southern Gaza on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of at least 23 Palestinians and widespread destruction across the territory.

Among the targets hit was Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, where Israeli airstrikes destroyed a warehouse containing medical supplies and injured numerous patients and staff.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, the overall death toll since the onset of the ground offensive has risen to at least 53,339 Palestinians, with over 121,000 wounded. Social media images depict the aftermath of the attack on Nasser Hospital, showing damaged crates of medical supplies, including bottles of IV fluids, highlighting the critical impact on Gaza’s already strained healthcare system.

Dr. Muhammad Zaqout, the hospital’s director general, expressed concern over the safety of medical personnel, fearing Israeli soldiers may raid the hospital amid ongoing hostilities. The hospital has also received wounded patients from the Israeli bombardment in Khan Younis, as well as the bodies of at least six individuals.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced a limited allowance of aid into Gaza, though the timing and scale of the supplies remain uncertain amid the ongoing conflict.

The situation continues to deteriorate as Israel expands its military operations in southern Gaza, raising urgent questions about the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the densely populated enclave.
