Judicial Commission approves appointment of Justice Sarfaraz Dogar as CJ IHC: Sources

Islamabad: The most senior puisine of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Sarfaraz Dogar appointment as Chief Justice of the IHC has been approved by the meeting of Judicial Commission of Pakistan held today in chair of Chief Justice CJ Yahya Afridi of Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan meeting is underway in the Chair of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.

The meeting had decided appointing the senior most puisine of IHC Justice Sarfaraz Dogar elevation on the post of the Chief Justiceof the IHC.

The Judicial Commission has approved the name of Justice Sarfaraz Dogar appointing as the Chief Justice of the IHC.

On the last Sunday, President of Pakistan has issued seniority list of the IHC Judges as per the list Justice Sarfaraz Dogar was placed at the top as the most senior judge of the IHC.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani on second in the list followed by Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb on the third.

President of Pakistan Asif Zardari decided the seniority of the judges of the Islamabad High Court and declared Justice Sarfaraz Dogar as the most senior judge of the IHC.

The President reviewed the seniority of the IHC Judges and decided the matter in the light of the Supreme Court of Pakistan directions to decide seniority based on the judges’ service records.

The notification was issued with the President’s approval by the Ministry of Law and Justice.

According to the President decision Justice Sarfaraz Dogar has been declared as the most senior judge of the IHC.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani will be second most on the seniority and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb will be the third on the seniority.

Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri is fourth, and Justice Babar Sattar is in the fifth position.

Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq is sixth, Justice Arbab Tahir is seventh, Justice Saman Riffat is eighth, Justice Khadim Soomro is ninth, Justice Azam Khan is tenth, Justice Muhammad Asif is eleventh, and Justice Inam Minhas is twelfth in the seniority list.

Additionally, the notification confirms that the transfer of three judges has now been made permanent, a decision also finalized by the President of Pakistan.

Another significant legal matter was also settled by the President alongside this decision.
