Khawaja Shams Ul Islam advocate shot dead in Defence Phase 6, two others injured including son

Karachi: Unidentified assailants opened fire on senior advocate Khawaja Shams Ul Islam in Defence Housing Society Phase 6 outside a mosque when he was leaving the mosque after offering Friday prayers.

Deputy Inspector General South Asad Raza apprised that the senior advocate was shifted to a hospital in Clifton in a critical conditions but he succumbed to his injuries.

The DIG South further informed that his son was injured in the firing incident.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mahroz Ali apprised that the senior advocate received two bullets in his body.

The SSP said that the police have collected evidences and facts from the spot and investigation into the murder has started.

Sources said that he had come to offer funeral prayers of businessmen Muzamil Pracha at Quran Academy mosque, near Sea View, along with his son Daniyal.

Khawaja Shams Ul Islam was also attacked in November last year in which he injured with a gunshot after he was beaten up with iron rods and sticks.

Shams was returning to his office on foot after offering Isha prayers when he was attacked and violently assaulted by a group of 15 to 20 individuals armed with guns, iron rods, and sticks.

This unprovoked attack has left Mr. Shams with serious injuries, including a bullet wound.
