QUETTA: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Baluchistan was facing many key issues including menace of terrorism, adding that issues in Baluchistan will not end with use of force but only by winning the hearts of the local people.
Speaking to reception hosted by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah for the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) at the Chief Minister’s House, Bilawal said during war with India, Pakistan realized that digital media was asset of the country which countered disinformation. He said it was need of the hour to counter disinformation.
PPP Chairman said the government will try to implement laws which are aimed at the protection of the journalists. Bilawal Bhutto said that just as the Pakistan Air Force defeated India, Pakistani journalism also defeated the Indian media. He said “during the war, we realized that digital media is our asset”.
Bilawal stated ending the ban on digital media was a good move. Bilawal Bhutto further said that “terrorists and our enemy country are spreading disinformation”. Similarly, disinformation is being spread regarding Baluchistan, Sindh and Kashmir. The Chairman PP suggested that the Baluchistan issue can be solved not by force but by winning hearts.
On this occasion, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also praised the struggle of journalists for freedom of expression and said that Sindh established Pakistan’s first Journalists Protection Commission. Chief Minister Baluchistan Sarfaraz Bugti lamented that, “There are many positive works being done in Balochistan that are not visible in our media, which makes us sad.”
At the end of ceremony, PFUJ leader Afzal Butt, Sardar Liaquat Kashmiri, Mazhar Abbas, Tahir Hassan Khan, Javed Asghar Chaudhry and others also presented a shield by the Chairman PPP
