LAHORE: The Punjab Health Department has introduced an extension to outpatient department (OPD) hours at all government teaching hospitals throughout the province, aiming to facilitate better healthcare delivery and reduce patient wait times.
As per the official directive, OPDs will now be open from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM from Monday through Thursday and on Saturday, marking an hour-long extension from previous timings. On Fridays, OPD services will be available from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
A health department spokesperson highlighted that the new timings are intended to serve a larger number of patients, especially those coming from distant or underserved areas, by decreasing congestion and improving service accessibility.
The revised schedule is mandatory for all public teaching hospitals within Punjab. Hospital administrations have been directed to strictly enforce the updated hours to ensure uniformity and better healthcare coverage across the province.
