NDMA urges public to avoid mountain regions Amid adverse weather

ISlAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Saturday issued a public advisory urging citizens to refrain from visiting mountainous areas due to ongoing severe weather conditions.

The directive comes following instructions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aiming to prioritize public safety in light of recent calamities.

In its statement, the NDMA emphasized that all tourism activities in weather-affected regions will be restricted to prevent loss of life and property. The authority has instructed relevant departments to take swift measures to limit public access to high-risk zones during the current monsoon season.

The NDMA also stated that, if necessary, restrictions on movement could be enforced under Section 144 of the law. Citizens have been advised not to travel to or through areas affected by flooding.
