WEB DESK: In India, a 55-year-old woman has given birth to her 17th child. According to Indian media reports, Rekha, a resident of Udaipur district in Rajasthan and wife of Kawra Ram, delivered her 17th baby.
Hospital officials confirmed that both mother and baby are healthy. The report states that Rekha and Kawra Ram, residents of Leelwas village in Udaipur, had five children (four sons and one daughter) who passed away shortly after birth. They now have 12 living children—seven sons and five daughters.
Kawra Ram mentioned that two of his sons and three of his daughters are married, and those children also have their own families.
The Indian media reports that the couple’s financial situation is very poor. Kawra Ram, who works in scrap collection to support the family, said he had to take loans at high interest rates to pay for his children’s marriages.
