LAHORE: The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a new advisory highlighting the likelihood of significant rainfall across much of Punjab.
The ongoing 10th phase of the monsoon season is projected to persist until September 9, raising the threat of flash floods and waterlogging in urban centers.
Extensive Rainfall Anticipated
A PDMA representative stated that widespread rain is expected in several regions, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Lahore. Additional areas likely to be affected include Narowal, Hafizabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Okara, Sahiwal, Kasur, and Mianwali. Rainfall is also forecast for southern districts such as Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Rajanpur.
Potential for Flash Flooding and Overflowing Rivers
Authorities have particularly cautioned residents of low-lying and river-adjacent areas in southern Punjab. There is an elevated risk of flash floods in Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding regions between September 6 and 9 due to the intense rainfall expected during this period.

The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a fresh alert warning of heavy rainfall across most districts of Punjab starting today. The 10th spell of the monsoon season is expected to continue until September 9, raising concerns of urban flooding and river overflows.
Widespread rains expected
According to a PDMA spokesperson, heavy showers are forecast in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Lahore.
Rainfall is also likely to hit Narowal, Hafizabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Okara, Sahiwal, Kasur, and Mianwali, as well as southern districts including Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, and Rajanpur.
Risk of flash floods and river overflows
The authority has warned of a possibility of flash flooding in the riverine areas of Dera Ghazi Khan between September 6 and 9.
