PU students reaffirm support for armed forces during DG ISPR’s visit

LAHORE: Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, visited Punjab University on Thursday, where he was welcomed with enthusiasm by students and faculty alike.

During an interactive session with students, the DG ISPR addressed various questions and engaged in a candid discussion on national security, misinformation, and the critical role of the youth in defending Pakistan’s ideological frontiers.

Students conveyed their strong support for the Pakistan Army, voicing solidarity with the armed forces in ensuring the country’s sovereignty and stability. They pledged to stand shoulder to shoulder with the military in protecting the nation against internal and external threats.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif also held a meeting with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali and senior faculty members. The discussions centered around national resilience, the importance of truth in the age of digital disinformation, and the armed forces’ recent achievements with particular mention of recent tensions with India.

Participants commended the army’s role in safeguarding national interests and emphasized the importance of unity during turbulent times.

One of the key outcomes of the session was increased awareness among students about the dangers of fake news and hostile narratives targeting state institutions. Attendees appreciated the opportunity to engage directly with the DG ISPR, noting that the session helped dispel doubts and counter anti-state propaganda.

Students and faculty alike called for more such engagements to foster understanding and strengthen national cohesion, especially among the youth.
