CM Baluchistan announces easy instalment electric Bikes for Women to boost independence

QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, announced a new initiative to provide electric bicycles to working women through affordable installment plans, aiming to empower women economically.

The announcement was made during a high-level meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, which focused on the implementation of the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).The gathering was attended by prominent provincial officials including Planning and Development Minister Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Minister for Communication and Works Mir Saleem Khan Khosa, Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, along with other senior officials. Zahid Saleem, the Additional Chief Secretary, delivered a comprehensive briefing on ongoing development projects.

Expressing his commitment to women’s empowerment, CM Bugti stated, “We aim for women to become self-sufficient and to make meaningful contributions to our social and economic sectors.” He also directed all provincial departments to ensure the timely completion of approved development schemes by January 2026, emphasizing the importance of punctual delivery of public welfare initiatives. While praising departments making rapid progress, the CM expressed concern over delays in others and announced that the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team will oversee the progress and quality of all ongoing projects.

“Alleviating the hardships faced by the people of Balochistan remains our highest priority,” CM Bugti remarked. “All government departments should prioritize public service and demonstrate responsibility and dedication.”

Furthermore, CM Sarfraz Bugti ordered the completion of two key projects by October. The new fleet of buses for the Green Bus scheme has already been procured and is expected to arrive at Karachi Port in the second week of October.

This expansion aims to improve urban transportation, with the Green Bus fleet serving as a major upgrade. Additionally, a Pink Bus Service will be launched to offer safe and exclusive transport options for women.The CM also directed that all proposed schemes for the upcoming fiscal year must receive technical approval by May, ensuring their timely inclusion in the upcoming budget.
