PIA issues travel advisory for passengers

ISLAMABAD: National airline PIA has issued a travel advisory for passengers due to the closure of routes in Lahore and Islamabad.

The national airline’s spokesperson has shared concerns about potential flight delays arising from road closures in Lahore and Islamabad. These closures are affecting highway accessibility, making it challenging for staff to reach the airport.

To minimize inconvenience, passengers are strongly advised by the PIA spokesperson to leave for the airport at least 4 to 5 hours prior to their flight’s scheduled departure.

These disruptions stem from ongoing protests by a religious party, leading to roadblocks in various areas including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. Both the GT Road and the motorway have been shut down, causing significant difficulties for travelers.

Additionally, the Chenab toll plaza in Wazirabad has been barricaded with containers. As a result, many passengers are opting for alternative modes of transport, turning to railway stations and airports for their journeys.
