ISLAMABAD: Internet users across Pakistan may face slow speeds or partial disruptions on October 14.
Internet users across Pakistan may face slow speeds or partial disruptions on October 14. This is due to scheduled maintenance on a submarine cable, announced by the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL).
The repair work will target a faulty repeater installed within the international cable system. A PTCL spokesperson said the maintenance will start at 11:00 am PST and could continue for up to 18 hours.
During this time, broadband and cellular internet users may experience intermittent connectivity. PTCL expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and asked users to plan accordingly.
Internet services in Pakistan have been disrupted multiple times in recent months. Causes include submarine cable faults and local outages. Cellular internet was recently suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to a political party’s protest.
Authorities have promised to strengthen internet connectivity across the country. They also plan to roll out 5G services in several major cities soon.
