ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has sharply criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister for skipping an important meeting focused on the repatriation process of Afghan refugees, accusing him of political posturing.
In a media interaction, Tarar explained that the meeting, convened by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was attended by representatives from all relevant institutions and provincial governments. Notably, only Sohail Afridi, the KP Chief Minister, was absent, with his role represented by Muzzammil Aslam.
Tarar underscored the significance of KP Chief Minister’s participation, given the province’s delicate law and order situation and its border with Afghanistan. He highlighted that critical decisions regarding Afghan refugee return were finalized during the gathering.
The minister further criticized the KP leadership, suggesting that the Chief Minister lacks a commitment to dialogue and institutional cooperation. On foreign policy matters, Tarar reiterated Pakistan’s consistent stance on supporting Gaza and Palestine, praising the government’s diplomatic initiatives for strengthening the country’s international standing.
He also pointed out that the green passport is gaining recognition worldwide, thanks to the government’s diplomatic efforts. Concluding, Tarar stated that the public has dismissed protests called by TLP and PTI, asserting that these protests have had no impact and that daily life across Pakistan remains unaffected.
