KABUL: Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Afghan Minister of Interior, has officially dismissed Abdullah Mukhtar from his role as Deputy Minister.
The Afghan Taliban’s Supreme Leader, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, has appointed Muhammad Wizar as the new Deputy Minister, replacing Mukhtar, according to the Ministry of Interior.
The newly appointed Deputy Minister has taken over his responsibilities.Sources report that Sirajuddin Haqqani was absent from the ceremony where the new deputy was inaugurated, although his close aides were present at the event.
In addition, Afghan journalist Sami Yusufzai revealed that Sirajuddin Haqqani’s authority within the Ministry of Interior has been significantly diminished. He also highlighted that Abdullah Mukhtar, a prominent member of Haqqani’s inner circle, has been removed from his position.
Yusufzai further commented that the assassination of Khalil Haqqani has further weakened Sirajuddin Haqqani’s influence and standing.
