ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued an advisory urging all married individuals to update their marital information in official records promptly to prevent potential legal issues in the future.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, NADRA emphasized that many people have registered their marriages with Union Councils but have not yet reflected these details in the NADRA database.
The authority encourages affected citizens to visit their nearest NADRA centers to ensure their marital status is accurately recorded. This initiative is part of NADRA’s ongoing efforts to keep citizen data current and reliable.
Additionally, NADRA has introduced an SMS alert system to notify married individuals about the need for updating their records. For further assistance or information, citizens can contact the helpline at 1777 (for mobile users) or 051-111-786-100, or visit the official website www.nadra.gov.pk.
Details on the Update Process and Charges
The fee for updating marital status on a CNIC is Rs100, classified as an “unprintable alteration.” Applicants are required to submit relevant documents, such as a marriage certificate or Nikahnama, based on their specific case details, when applying for the update.
