PML-N senator Irfan Siddiqui passes away in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Senator Irfan Siddiqui, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), succumbed to a brief illness in Islamabad last night.

Prominent political figures, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, have expressed their heartfelt condolences on his passing. In separate statements, they described Irfan Siddiqui as a wise thinker, dedicated educator, seasoned politician, and principled intellectual.

President Zardari paid tribute to Siddiqui’s contributions to democracy, extending sympathies to his family during this difficult time. Prime Minister Sharif highlighted Siddiqui’s loyalty to the PML-N and his close association with Mian Nawaz Sharif, emphasizing that his services to the party would always be remembered.

The funeral prayer for Senator Irfan Siddiqui, a respected columnist and political analyst, was held in Islamabad today. The ceremony was attended by federal ministers such as Attaullah Tarar, Ahsan Iqbal, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Engineer Amir Muqam, along with members of the journalist community, city dignitaries, and numerous individuals from various sectors of society.
