Second ODI: Sri Lanka sets Pakistan a target of 289 runs

RAWALPINDI: In the second match of the three-game One Day International (ODI) series, Sri Lanka has set Pakistan a target of 289 runs to win. Sri Lanka scored 288 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted overs.

Jenth Liangne of Sri Lanka played a valuable innings of 54 runs, while Kamindu Mendis contributed 44 runs, and Sadeera Samarawickrama scored 42 runs. Wanindu Hasaranga remained unbeaten with 37 runs.

Pakistan’s bowlers, Abrar Ahmed and Haris Rauf, each took three wickets.Earlier, the host team Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first.

In today’s match, captain Shaheen Shah Afridi is not playing due to health reasons, and Salman Ali Agha is leading the team in his absence. Wicketkeeper-batsman Waseem Junaid has also been included in the playing XI for this match.

It is noteworthy that Pakistan won the first ODI against Sri Lanka by 6 runs.
